Enrichment is just as necessary as food, water, and shelter. One to two times a day our animals receive generalized enrichment that is not tailored specifically to individuals. For some time we have also had Enrichment Plus (E+) for dogs who need a little extra somethin' somethin' to be confident and comfortable in the shelter, giving them specialized enrichment tailored to their needs and behaviors. Recently I developed and similar program for our cats. There are three categories that we have found would benefit most from E+: Overstimulated, Fearful, and Frustrated. Cats who show frustrated behaviors are automatically scheduled for E+, overstimulated or fearful cats are enrolled depending on the situation. This is the manual detailing E+, the types of enrichment, who qualifies, and instructions on a couple of the enrichment options. Staff also have a binder full of instructions on other enrichment options available to them.

@Hsnu _ I dug through where I thought the files might be and didn't find anything, what was in the binder before I added enrichment plus is at least a decade old and probably wasn't saved anywhere, which is a little bit of an issue. I can definitely work on getting that digitized because I would love to share it! It is so hard to find information on cat enrichment that is doable within a shelter. Whenever I get that finished I will definitely tag you when it's uploaded.
