    Good afternoon everyone,

I am getting very desperate to I am reaching out to this group for cat help.  We are an open admission shelter and are required to take everything brought in by our community.  We have over 230 cats/kittens and should be around 130.  More are coming in every day than going out.  We TNR, help the community fix their animals, everything we adopt out is fixed and we are currently adopting out our felines for a donation of any size but they just keep coming.  We are located in the north east corner of Indiana and would love to find more transport partners for cats/kittens.  We can meet 1/2 way or bring them to you depending on how far you are from us.  Any help would be appreciated.

@Alisa- has your org signed up with Doobert? You can connect with other orgs across the country who have space for your cats/kittens and can work out the transport logistics. Doobert

    Amanda,

I have signed up with Dooobert but I did not see anyone that needed cats/kittens on it.  Maybe something on my application needs to process before I will be able to see that??  Thank you for the recommendation though.  Anything to help get our cat numbers down.

    Hi Alisa,

does your shelter attend IndyMega Adoption Event? Over 14,000 adopters attend and they are all looking for pets to add to their family.  It's free to attend!   It's next weekend and there is still time to sign up and attend! Let me know if you are interested and I can connect you with the right people.  If you are so desperate, I urge you to attend.  There is no reason to pass up this amazing opportunity.   Me and 1 volunteer did the event the first year and we adopted out all but 1 cat we brought. IndyMega will also help with volunteers! If you can only come one day, so be it!  You will adopt out a lot of cats/kittens.  It's worth the effort!

Good morning, Alisa. I am the ED of the AWL of Kosciusko County. We ran into the same issue with overpopulation of cats. We finally did a mass adoption fee reduction. I went on our weekly radio program and did a press release, which brought South Bend news down to us to do a story. We were able to reduce our population from 203 to 130 in three weeks. Of course we are already back up to 150 and continue to turn people away. The TNR program is fantastic. We hope to start a program like that soon. And we want to create a low cost spay and neuter program for our residents as well, which should help with the cat population. You are doing everything right. It sounds like you are being forced to swim upstream. If we ever come back to the ability to take in cats, we will reach out to you.

We did free cats for all of September.  Started Sept with 211 and adopted out 64 and ended Sept with 211 because of all that came in:(  Now I am at 224 and to cats had kittens yesterday.  We can't turn anyone from our county away so it makes it hard.  I signed up for Doobert so I hope that helps.  If you get to where you need more cats/kittens, just let me know:)
