This is good information and something all pet owners should think about.  When my father was alive I told him that if anything happened to him I would take his dog.  At that time I never thought I'd really end up doing that, but we did.  She was a blessing to our home.

Our vet we had at that time took photos of our pets that told emergency workers (should we be in an accident, or something) that there were pets at home.  The photo was the size of a drivers license and I kept it behind my drivers license in my wallet.  But a note to emergency workers might work too.
