Good afternoon! Our humane society, Laramie Peak Humane Society, is looking for a new vehicle to transport animals to the vet, adoption events, and picking up transfers. Following as we need to replace our transport van as it needs to go into the shop quite often for something going wrong with it. It is an older van. New vehicles (and even used) are so expensive right now :(

We bought a Nissan light duty cargo van (NV200) in July 2020 and it has been a game changer for us. I had experience using them with a previous rescue, and enjoy them a lot. 

Pros: Simple and straight forward, good gas mileage, comfy to drive long distance
Cons: Small-ish for animal and supply moving. We'll eventually get a bigger van for long hauls

Her name is Baby Beluga (aka Bella) and we love her :)

Hi Erin,
Our facilities have used a few different types of vehicles for transport, the sprinters are a favorite among our transport teams as they are easier to maneuver in residential areas or tight streets, and are pretty spacious I believe our last transport we were able to fit 15 medium to large airline crates comfortably in there. How many animals do you typically transport? If more than 15, maybe consider a cargo van or a commercial sized transport vehicle. We have had Ford's and they weren't too bad, we currently have a Mercedes Sprinter they are nice but maintenance has not been a ray of sunshine. I would definitely consider the maintenance cost when selecting your new vehicle too. I hope this is helpful and good luck with selecting a new transport vehicle.
