Animal Welfare Professionals

Hey all, our shelter joined Home To Home (intake diversion and private rehoming assistance program) last year. I'd love to enlist a crew of volunteers to help us manage the day to day tasks of this program - reviewing and approving pet adoption profiles, posting animals on the site, helping owners with basic questions about rehoming their pet, etc. This role will be done remotely, from the volunteers home. 

Anyone have suggestions on what we could call this volunteer role? Trying to think of something a little less boring than some kind of admin assistant, since the role won't involve anything as exciting as working hands-on with shelter animals.

I totally love what you are doing. I would try to make it fun, maybe "Homers" - not like Homer Simpson, but that comic did pop into my mind, and it might be fun to play with. What a great project!

What about something simple, like "Rehoming Assistant"?

Another thing that might help decide the job title is whether it will be used more internally or also with clients. I feel like if it is mostly going to be talked about within your group, then you have a lot more freedom for a fun, in-joke name or a very generic one. If it is something that clients are going to be told (or given a direct contact with via your website), then I think it has to more clear and specific to the work. For example, if someone calls considering rehoming their pet and your desk staff offer to connect them with a generically-titled "Admin Assistant", it might not be clear to them what kind of help they are going to get, or require the person answering the call to spend more time on explanations.

We use this program and it's great!! We have staff facilitate, but maybe you could call them Pet Rehome Project Managers or Rehoming  Volunteer Specialists.

 Thanks for this post.  I  was thinking about a few names. Rehoming Counselor, Placement Assistant, Placement Counselor, Rehoming Support Counselor, Rehoming Support Assistant. Those names might be too long for you these were just some thoughts that I had.
