Hurricane IDA - Support - Cat and Dog Food Donation

  • 1.  Hurricane IDA - Support - Cat and Dog Food Donation

    Posted 09-03-2021 04:49 AM

    Good morning,

GaDaH is planning to send around 8,000 pounds of cat and some dog food down to Louisiana or anywhere that is needed, hopefully next week.

I was wondering if there was anyone who is in a position to accept and ensure fair and distribution is allocated where needed.

I am still working on getting it down there, I am located in Maine and have a shuttle bus which we are loading up, but need to find a driver, or maybe someone to meet me half way in VA to cross-load and take down. I also have someone donating 40 dog food bowls and around 60 leashes and will still try to see what else we can gather up.

I am in several FB groups in regards to IDA, but want to make sure that the food goes to where is needed.

I also could "possibly" bring some dogs back to transfer into rescue as I do have some kennels open and also communal areas.

    Hurricane Ida Update from NACA

While things have gotten better and the storm impact is not making headlines, it is far from over. Louisiana SPCA is wrapping up the the third week of response post Hurricane Ida and is so thankful for everyone's support during this time! There is no trash service, minimal or no water in some areas and many without power, expected for at least another month.

LA SPCA is at max capacity and desperately need partners willing to support with transport any number of dogs!

    URGENT NEED FOR:

    • Transport Partners both ground and flight
    • Drivers with Commercial Drivers License (flight costs covered)
If there is any way you can help over the next 4 weeks, please reach out to
Ana Zorrilla, CEO at Louisiana SPCA via email ana@laspca.org or text 504-329-7585

If you are able to provide assistance in any capacity and are activated to do so, please keep NACA in the loop so we can support and share your story jowen@nacanet.org
