Under general direction, the incumbent will assist the Animal Services Director in the direction and supervision of the department through overseeing animal sheltering and field services operations and general administration of shelter and field programs; participating in establishing and implementing agency program policies, procedures, and priorities; and overseeing budget and staff for specific areas.

The Deputy Director of Operations will report directly to the Animal Services Director and provide executive management oversight relative to the operation and utilization of resources in the department's goals and objectives. The incumbent will also be responsible for the administration and direction of diverse operations, programmatic functions, and complex personnel. Additional duties will include reviewing and developing recommendations on administrative programmatic policy and operational issues and changes. This class is further characterized by the responsibility for developing a countywide service delivery plan for shelter and field operations, services, and objectives of the department.
