    Posted 10-08-2021 04:00 AM

    Good morning,

GaDaH has finally found someone to coordinate a foster program.... yayyyyyy. I do have an old foster form, however, I saw in the library one that had been reviewed by attorneys and wanted to take a look.

However, whenever I try and open any word document they are not opening as they are corrupt :(

Is there a way to get other copies or could someone re-share or email me copies please? Anything else would be great.

    Thank you

    Jen

    Hi Jenny,

Congrats on finding someone to coordinate your foster program!  And sorry about the issue accessing the file. Could you send the link or name of the foster form you're trying to access in the library? We'll get the file updated and make sure you get a copy you can use.

    Hi Jenny,

There's a link to that foster agreement and a whole bunch more foster-related resources on our Foster Resource Page: https://www.maddiesfund.org/foster-care-resources.htm

    Jenny,

I've updated the "Foster Care Agreement - PACC" file in the MPF library. Thanks for the heads up!

Here's the direct link to that file on the page Kelly shared: https://www.maddiesfund.org/assets/foster-care/foster-care-agreement-PACC.pdf

Congrats on gearing up for a new foster program!

    Hi Jenny,

We have a foster agreement (includes our application as well), different than the one you are talking about here, but it has been reviewed by our legal team. Let me know if you have any questions. We have quite a bit of information that we send along to our fosters if you're interested in looking at any of that as well.

    Good morning Erin,

Thank you for this and that would be great, I was hoping to start working on the admin side of things for the foster program later today - if the dogs allow me lol.

    I really appreciate everyone's help.

    Jen :)

Sure! We have a full foster handbook (I've attached this) that gets sent out after foster training is complete. We require fosters to fill out the general volunteer application and attend general orientation, then they fill out a foster application and attend our prerecorded foster training (which has a quiz at the end so we know they watched the full training and heard the most important parts of training). The foster application and agreement is the one I attached already. We also have a form labeled, "foster pet guidelines", https://hstt.org/sites/default/files/Foster%20Pet%20Guidelines_0.pdf,  that gets signed before a pet goes into foster. We have each foster also sign a docusign form with the new foster pets name each time they foster.

Short of asking for a blood sample and promising us their first born...lol, we are located in CA, so it seems like a bit of an overboard process, however covering ourselves in everyway possible is important (depending on where you're located, you may not need all of the these types of forms).

We try to give our fosters as much information as possible so that they feel fully ready to foster and it limits the amount of cell phone calls/texts/emails we end up taking once they have a pet in their care.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Jenny,
We're in the midst of organizing our Forum Resource Library and created a Foster folder yesterday. It has 65 resources in it currently that may help you  get started. You can check them out by clicking on the Library tab in the Animal Welfare Resources Community (next to the Discussion tab near the top of this current screen) and then selecting the Foster folder. There may be other resources in the main Animal Welfare Resources folder too since we're still going through the entries and moving them to their appropriate folders.

Good luck and hope this helps!
