Hi everyone- outside of my normal posting lane here, but we are in line to get a new website and would love to know from my peers-

Who has the best website in the business we should try and replicate? Whose website is aesthetically pleasing AND easy for citizens to navigate?

Feel free to suggest your own org! Just looking for some quality examples to share with our developers.

    Let the bragging begin!!

No bragging here.... we packed too much information into our website (for a variety of good reasons)!

But I will suggest that you figure out whether your main website users will appreciate cool design, or whether you have more older users, or folks with reduced vision, who will appreciate clear and simple.  It can make a world of difference!

    Have fun developing it!

Hello,  I have seen a lot of websites.  Organized and not organized.  I highly recommend you use a Wordpress platform if you are a larger organization.  Smaller groups have had good success with flipcause websites(phinneys.org is a good example).

Also make sure you know your branding(colors, fonts, language etc) before going into a redesign.

The Community Cats Podcast website has a lot of info and that has been the big criticism that our pages are too busy.   So less may be more when thinking about design.  But at the CCP we try to keep the drop down menus to a limited number and not too many headings across the board.

Feel free to check out these two websites that I am involved with:

I dabble in searching for the best websites out there, especially the ones with great lost & found resources. Here are a few of my favorites:

    Home - LifeLine Animal Project | Adopt | Foster| Donate | Volunteer

Home - Dallas Animal Services (bedallas90.org)

Home - Cabot Animal Support Services - CASS

Fresno Humane Animal Services-Fresno Humane Animal Services

    Home - KC Pet Project

I wanted to reply also and say that we (HASS) are working with April Hunstman from Adopt-A-Pet on a  supported self rehoming audit project where we are working with 7 pilot orgs and auditing their website.  We are tracking recommended changes through google analytics, shelter data and rehome by adopt a pet.  We are in the midst of that now.  At the end, we will have a checklist of must-do changes (or additions) for shelters.  We hope to have that by the end of the year.  My biggest piece of advice right now is to add google analytics on to every page of your website so you can be tracking what traffic and user behavior is like NOW.
