Hello friends! Reminding our community members about the importance of pet loss prevention and what to do if a beloved pet goes missing should be an ongoing conversation. We often forget about this most important topic but adding it to our repertoire can have lasting impacts. For example, during the adoption counseling process, how many of us even touch on this issue? Consider adding information to your dialogue and also the materials you might be giving new adopters so that they understand how to make sure their new pet doesn't get lost and more importantly, what to do should that happen. Making sure we are consistently and regularly sending this message on our websites and social media platforms is critically important and doesn't take big marketing dollars to accomplish. A simple post, even once a month is a surefire way to get people to model the behavior we are hoping to see. It can't hurt to push out an occasional press release on the topic, heck, there are slow news days, and you never know when one of your local media outlets will pick it up. You can include "all of the things" in the release: PetFBI, Petco Love Lost, the value of identification tags, microchips and a reminder to keep the registration updating, share a happy ending story, etc. I just stumbled across this really cool video out of Denver! Check it out - How to find a lost pet (English) - YouTube
The sky is the limit when it comes to sharing this information with the people in our communities. Is
