Hi
@june mcmahon!
This may be a good place to start re: keeping families together:
https://www.humananimalsupportservices.org/keeping-families-together/from HASS - It's a toolkit that was developed with the eviction crisis in mind, but has lots of value in other sub-topics.
Re: community partnerships, take a look at this toolkit:
https://www.humananimalsupportservices.org/toolkit/community-partnerships/ from HASS - It focuses on partnerships that may be traditionally outside the "shelter" industry, but has great steps and advice for getting those local shelter collaborations in place as well.
I hope this helps!!!

Subject: Community Collaboration
I live in a semi-rural community. WE have 3 shelters that are not new- one has been around more than 45 years . one about 15 years and one is animal control. Too many rescues to list. I don't believe one of them is connected in any way with the thought of keeping animals and families together. they do not collaborate, provide services to each other for the sake of the animal, or are even aware that sharing resources is the trend now around the country. I am interested in resources to help bring them together so we can be a modern animal and people community. Could I be the only one here that is aware? I sure feel like it. Would love to see some development in this area
