Session 2 - Thursday, September 4 · 12 - 1pm EDT
Barriers to Bond
Companion animals have profound positive effects on human health—physically, emotionally, and socially. Yet inequities such as poverty, housing insecurity, lack of access to veterinary care, and structural racism often undermine a family’s ability to care for their beloved pets. This session will challenge attendees to consider how these inequities manifest in communities and highlight opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to preserve and strengthen the human–animal bond, especially for the most vulnerable.
