  • 1.  Low cost vet care

    Posted 04-30-2020 02:32 AM

I have a 11 month old American Pit Bull Terrier that has become very ill. She came into her first heat and the next day she became very lethargic and vomiting. In 3 days time she has lost a massive amount of weight and has stopped eating. I've tried everything. Took her to the vet and 1200 dollars later all they can tell me is what is not wrong with her. No parvovirus, has no obstructions. She is very dehydrated and slowly dying. Due to covid 19 I am unemployment and can't afford anymore vet care. I do not qualify for care credit. Someone please help point me in the right direction.

Hi - so sorry to hear about your pup.

For potential veterinary care assistance, the Humane Society of the United States has a list of resources to search through (in some cases, by breed or state):  https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/are-you-having-trouble-affording-your-pet

    Here are some additional ideas:

    • Brown Dog Foundation (browndogfoundation.org) - works with the clinic and the family to find the best, most affordable path to saving the pet.
    • Paws 4ACure (http://www.paws4acure.org/) provides financial assistance throughout the U.S. to those who cannot afford veterinary care

    Best wishes!
