  • 1.  Biting at her stitches

Hi everyone we adopted as Bella 2 days ago and we noticed today that she has been biti g/pulling at her stitches. She got fixed before she came home with us. Its beat red around where her stitches are and looks like at one point today it was bleeding. Should we be worried. This is what it looks like. We are new to having a dog so I dont know what to expect.

Many dogs pick at their stitches. Can you have her rechecked and get a cone for her? Honestly, that's what we would do.

I've seen good results with the surgery t-shirts, too. Keeps area clean, dry, difficult to chew and less cumbersome that cones. Some vets/shelters/etc are getting them with their logos. You might be able to buy/borrow from clinic local to you if the operating vet doesn't offer. Hope pup recovers quickly.

We use baby onesies for our Shih Tzu, just cut a hole for the tail, they work great!!
