Hi all! I'm hoping to tap into some corporate funding for our rescue programs, and we are working on building relationships with the business community. If you receive grants from businesses, could you help by answering a few questions? 

1. Are you funded by large corporations or local businesses? What industries are your funders in? 

2. Are funds in the forms of grants, event/program sponsorships, or general donations?

3. What is the average dollar amount of yearly contributions from an individual company?

4. How do you thank businesses for contributions? Do you provide any specific benefits for sponsorships?

We have a corporate partnership program and solicit for it annually. It is not typically funded through business'grant stream, more often taps into businesses marketing dollars and allows us to tap grant funds for other things. Eliminates the foundation response "we don't support animal issues" because marketing department has great latitude and understands where their target audience and ours crossover. We offer levels from $1000 - $20,000 and extend co-branding/marketing benefits based on each level. We solicit late summer through early fall in order to get in before their next budget year (so soliciting now for 2020 partners). They get sponsorship credit for both of our major events and year round recognition via website, newsletters, eblasts, Facebook, and more! And...we only have to solicit for sponsors/businesses once each year! Our business partners love receiving one ask, in advance of their budget year and year round benefits too. Participating businesses range from small independently owned to major corporations. Key is quantifying the value of your brand - number of donors, number of social media followers, number on email list etc. - and professional approach.
