For those of you using PetPoint, how do you handle previous vet records?  Do you enter all that info in as a vaccination history?  Just keep as a paper file?  Utilize the scanning upgrade?  We are finally fully implementing PetPoint but I'm trying to come up with a protocol for the previous records, and it seems like entering all that data would be time consuming.

    Thanks!

We enter the vaccinations in the animal record as "history" so we know when the vaccination is due again and scan in as an attachment in file storage. Works really well for us and no paper files, which is a bonus.

Are you using PetPoint file storage or something off-line? We're on Professional version and struggling with no direct access to having files connected with PetPoint...….any other secret other than Google Drive?

Yes, we pay for the File Storage module, along with electronic signature and mobile inventory (all of which are well worth the cost for our shelter - intake over 6,000). - Corey

Hello - I've seen clients handle this in a couple of ways:

    1. If the animal is transferred to you from another PetPoint shelter and you both have added the other's shelter ID in the Agency record, then you can use the Transfer History document that will transfer with the animal record. That transfer history contains the intake information (minus person details), medical, behavior, etc. and is an easy way to see what happened at the previous shelter.

    2. If the animal is coming from a non-PetPoint shelter (or even sometimes if it is) I have also seen shelter's enter the medical information in as a History exam and create a provider with the name of the previous shelter (if it is a frequent transfer partner). I see this most often when the receiving shelter wants to document the animal's medical using their own names and protocols. A lot of shelters have their own naming conventions, vaccination, and other medical protocols and they want the animal's record to reflect their language.

    3. And, of course, if you have File Storage it can be scanned and attached to the animal record for later access, as you mention.

If you would like to learn more about the Transfer History report you can see that in Online Help at: http://help.petpoint.com/desktop/animal_documents.htm?rhsearch=transfer%20history&rhsyns=%20#MiniTOCBookMark2.  If you want some guidance, please consider signing up for an Ask the Expert session by going to Support > Webinars. Our next Ask the Expert is August 14th at 2pm Eastern. Great opportunity to talk with our experts and hear from other shelters! You can also, of course, also check out more in Support > Online Help, Support > Learning Center, or email Tech Support at Support > Contact Us.  Hope this helps!

    Hi!

We enter all vaccinations in if they are not from a petpoint partner shelter and scan all documents into google drive folders for each pet. If the pet received a rabies vaccine elsewhere, we provide them with that original certificate as well as our records. We have found that the transfer history report is helpful internally, however we make sure everything is on the medical summary report as well using our codes.

    Hope that helps!
