Does anyone else have a cat that drools when you pet him/her? I assume my 6-year old thinks I'm his mamma and is just remembering his kitten penchant for anticipating feeding. But I wonder if there is another cause? He's been checked by a vet and oral health is fine. It happens only when petted but it can be an icky mess.

Yes!!! My first cat ever was a kitty who drooled when you petted her and she was happy.  I'm not sure WHY they do it, though. We need a physiology expert to chime in!  My drooly kitty lived until she was 21!! If he only drools related to petting, I wouldnt' worry about it.

Thank you, Sheila! Glad to know others have had this experience.  Edgar being of sound mind and body other than the drooling may well live to 21. He's got the "get a good nights sleep" bit down pat:)
