Whats the strangest reason you ever heard for a pet being returned to the shelter? I just adopted a 10yr old cat that was previously adopted then returned in less than a day for acting like a cat. The guy told hstv that the cat viciously mauled his socked foot.( maybe had a string that atracted the cat). I've had dragonfly for 5 days and he's been a sweetheart since day 1, purring and loving on me almost nonstop.

The dog's poop smelled offensively stronger than expected. We have a non-refundable policy and the guy was really angry but we held firm and he walked away really angry. I wanted to write an email to him thanking him for his donation which was being used to purchase poop bags to give out with each adoption. I resisted. 

The best one I ever heard at my shelter was a dog named Oakley who. Maybe weighs 20lbs was returned within 24 hrs for stressing out the guys rabbit. Although we were mad about him returning him we did have a good laugh that day

We have had our share!.

1. The dog did not match the sofa.

2. The dog would not bark.

They got new carpet & the dog didn't match the carpet any more. 

The cat was too playful.

We had a cat surrendered for meowing too much. In and of itself it's not particularly strange. Not common, but certainly not unheard of. However, this cat's name was Meowey. I'm not sure what these people were expecting...

The cat played in the Christmas Tree. 

They got new Furniture and the fur didn't match!

They didn't have enough room

The puppy was too playful and grew into a dog

The cat was too affectionate.

The dog shed too much, and the puppy who kissed too much.
