I'm the events coordinator for Fearless Kitty Rescue, in Fountain Hills AZ, and am in the midst of planning a Kitten Shower.  I wanted to ask for feedback from organizations that have held them successfully.  I'd like to hear if a Saturday or Sunday worked best for your organization, how were you able to keep it simple and of course low cost and your best avenues for advertising your event.   Any pitfalls to avoid and what kind of in  house games or activities you engaged your guests with.

We have done one for 3 years in a row.  We hold it on Sunday as that is a normal off day from 1-4.  We make it a facebook event and promo there mostly.  We also create an amazon wish list in the baby registry area and share that link everywhere we can.   Supplies will start to filter in.  The supplies we pick for this are kitten, puppy and foster related items.  We get more items donated than money coming in but that is ok with us.   We have a store donate a baby shower type sheet cake.  We have pup-corn and pupperroni pizza for a small fee.  We have games that the kids participate in like.   Baby bottle bowling, Price is right, scavenger hunts and any other game you can turn to being animal related.  We also get a few door prizes.   If you show up you get a door prize ticket and if you bring a donation you get an extra ticket plus they can also be purchased.  We also give them access to puppies and kittens to pet.  This year we had each a set born on the same day so that was a novelty for everyone.   We also have a table to talk to people about fostering and what the benefits and rewards are of fostering.  This year we gained 5 new foster families.

Sara, thank you .  One of our goals with this years Shower is to increase our number of Foster's.  I like the idea of some of your kid games, keeps them engaged and fun.

Again, thank you for sharing your ideas.

Our 8th Annual Kitten Shower is coming up Saturday, May 11.  All of ours have always been on a Saturday and except for mother nature issues (we hold our outside) all have been big events for us. We make a FB event page - https://www.facebook.com/events/400536813823132/ we have printed flyers and promote it on all our social media channels and have it on all the local community calendars. We have a special Kitten Shower Wishlist up on Amazon for those who can't attend. - very low cost event for us as just about everything is donated from the cake and goodies, to the raffle items to the decorations. We average about 3K from our raffle items and donation jars and we usually get even more in supplies - knock on wood we rarely have to buy KMR or Kitten Chow - This is last year's pictures https://www.facebook.com/pg/PetsAlive/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2089891767706440

    Becky,

Thanks very much for the information on what you do.  It's been two years since we held one, and we are using all the media outlets you mentioned.  We always try to get everything required to hold an event donated by local businesses.  Ours must be inside, pretty toasty in June in AZ to do an event outside.  Is your event free and open to the public or by invitation?

We have done Kitten Naming for a and it has gone over well with both our regular donors and when we've don it with the public
