Question: on a scale of 1-10 how concerned are you about the eviction crisis and the impact it will have on your organization?

You are likely well aware of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the emerging
eviction crisis, which threatens to displace millions of Americans from their homes. The Washington Post just shared the massive potential impacts of the end of the eviction moratorium on pets.

This pet eviction calculator can show you how many pets are facing eviction in your county.  Please see the comment below in this thread for a press release template that you can use to start a call to action in your community.

The federal eviction moratorium was overturned by the Supreme Court last night. It's time to reach out to your communities as we're expecting a massive increase of people with pets that need your help. If you haven't shared the last template yet because of the previous moratorium extension, we recommend using this press release template to alert your community to this issue now. By getting pets in your care now out to foster homes, you'll be prepared to take in pets facing eviction.

Luckily, the vast majority of PAWS NY clients are recipients of social security and therefore have some rent security.  I am, however, extremely concerned about NYC community residents as a whole.  NYC set up a tenant resource center to try to help, only time will tell how many people actually do get evicted.
