Happy 2024!
I wanted to invite anyone from an organization with a Crisis Foster Care / Safety Net Foster program to join a monthly discussion with other similar groups. This is a chance to talk about what works, what challenges we're having, and what ideas we can share around Crisis Foster Care.
What is a Crisis Foster Care program? This is an intake diversion program meant to help people experiencing a temporary crisis keep their companion animals. A "crisis" might include hospitalization, loss of housing, domestic violence, addiction treatment, natural disaster, incarceration, military deployment, and more.
Our current attendees include stand-alone nonprofits that exclusively provide Crisis Foster Care, non-profit shelters, municipal shelters, and more.
We also welcome organizations who are considering starting a Crisis Foster Care program and don't want to reinvent the wheel!
