We'd use this for making gruel for sick/underweight adults, but not neonates. That said, we had the resources available to make that choice and not everyone might. Google says nutrients in human baby formula start to degrade after the expiration date and it should not be used. Unsure if that's true or if it translates to kitten formula, but that might be the closest answer we have.

Subject: Expired Unopened KMR
Greetings! We received a donation of KMR the end of last year that is just expiring, all unopened. Mostly powder, but some canned liquid. I know most of us use expired products on a regular basis. I hesitate with the neonates! Have rescues used it? For how long? Would it possibly be OK for making kitten gruel for mush babies but maybe not for true bottle babies? I hate to just throw it all away! Any thoughts and experiences appreciated!
