    Hello Cat People,

I'm Danielle Bays, senior analyst for cat protection and policy at the Humane Society of the United States, and also the lead facilitator for the HASS Focus on Felines working group and Job-Alike discussion group. We are creating this space to share agendas and recordings of the FoF Job-Alike, share any links or resources brought up during the meetings, and continue the discussion in-between meetings.

The Focus on Felines Job-Alike is for anyone working  (paid or volunteer) in the shelter/rescue realm with a focus on felines. Do you manage the cats at your shelter? Coordinate a TNR program? Oversee a kitten foster network? Maybe you are the cat behavior guru of your team or a feline matchmaker? Does your role involve talking to other humans about cats? If you've got a focus on felines then this is the peer-to-peer group for you.

We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 4pm Eastern/3pm Central/2pm Mountain/1pm Pacific time for one hour.  Each session will start out with a short, focused presentation on a topic (this will be recorded) followed by an open discussion of that topic or any other feline-focused topic folks want to talk about. It's an opportunity to ask questions, share resources, and celebrate successes.

If you haven't already signed up for the Focus on Felines Job-Alike, follow this link to register for the recurring Zoom meeting.

Human Animal Support Services facilitates Job-Alike Groups to provide colleagues with similar roles and responsibilities the opportunity to discuss common issues, ask questions, determine best practices, and share program ideas among their peers. These groups include collaborative sessions that enable participants to share resources and develop relationships across multiple districts and settings.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the May Focus on Felines Job Alike discussion. And for going with the flow with the last minute agenda change. We've rescheduled the cat intake decision-making discussion for June.
June Topic: What to do with that cat? Making informed decisions about cats on intake.
Speaker: Dr. Heather Kennedy, KC Pet Project
For stray cats, pathway planning starts at the admissions door. When a resident brings a found cat to your facility, use this interaction as an opportunity to gather information about the cat and the community. We'll discuss how to guide front-line staff to get incoming cats started along the most appropriate pathway and gather information that can help the organization to provide the cat with the best available outcome.
