Creating a transport program - "lifeline" for dogs and cats of South Florida - working with over-burdened Municipal Open Intake Shelters (Sources).

How do you bridge the gap between Source Partners abilities and Destination Partners requirements with regards to quarantine? There is so much data now showing the benefits of less quarantine time, less chance of being exposed to disease, shorter LOS but the expectation of lengthy pre-transport quarantine times doesn't seem to have shifted to the transport world.

    Thank you,
    #TransfersandTransport

I think it depends on what state you are going to for their requirements and of course individual transport companies have their own policies. I am in Maine and the requirement is that pets must be vaccinated two weeks prior to entering the state, the quarantine/hold is done on this end, in that dogs over 6 months have to have a 2 day hold, and under 6 months a 5 day hold before adopting to be sure no signs of sickness.

So, our dogs and cats come directly from the shelter, however, they must have had vaccines 2 weeks prior and obviously a health cert to be sure no signs of sickness.
