I am with a rescue that pulls dogs from an overcrowded shelter that has been experiencing a lot of parvo.  The shelter staff tries hard on a limited budget while extremely over capacity but it has come to the point where we are afraid to take puppies. It's difficult to place them in foster homes and parvovirus treatment is a huge expense for a small foster based rescue group. We've taken three cases (saved 2 and lost 1) but we don't have the finances or specialty fosters to help them. We don't have control over their protocols, obviously, but how can we help them? Trying to divert litters from entering the shelter at all? How do others recruit puppy and/or mom and puppy fosters in this circumstance? There is even a lot of parvo in the community in spite of efforts at free and low cost vaccine clinics. Any thoughts or resources?
