We, at St Augustine's-in-the-Woods, were recently reminded of the importance of our Animal
Ministry especially in these trying times when people's focus seem to be
upon upheaval & chaos, greed & corruption, lies & violence.
Our animal companions are not participants in this strange unnatural world
of human intent but rather focus their attention on the achievable and
unblemished innocent gifts of joy, love, play. They temper the human
'search for conflict' by grounding us in our humanity, helping us expand our
'Circle of Compassion' and challenging us daily to follow Christ's plea to
'do unto the least as you would do unto me'. Perhaps unknowingly and
most generally found in the province of the Divine, they offer us a state of
forgiveness, companionship and grace that appears otherwise scarce in
this world.
We would love to find out if other Animal Ministries exist, & in what capacity.
Have you developed any particular programs focusing on the human/animal spiritual bond that we could adopt.?
Thank you so much,
with blessings and peace,
lars pardo
