    Hello all!

I currently serve as a volunteer grant writer for my local canine rescue. During the process of locating grants to apply to, I have encountered a lot of difficulty as it seems there is not a centralized database or website that aggregates all these grant application opportunities. Based on this, I have a two part question.

Do you know of any websites or forums that have a consolidated list of potential animal welfare grant funding opportunities? Whether this exists or not, do you have a certain software, program, or system that you find helpful for finding these animal welfare-related grant opportunities?

Thank you in advance for any advice or assistance you can provide!

This link shows a somewhat consolidated list of a lot of them.

    Hi Michelle,

Thank you so much for sharing this resource! It definitely provides a great spot to understand what is out there regarding these grants at this time. I especially appreciate the separation on the site between open grant opportunities and ones that are to be opened, as well as the notes on many of them. I'll share this with the rest of my team so we can start integrating it into our search process!

    Best,

    Hi Peter!

ASPCApro has a list of grant-giving organizations for animal welfare organizations. They don't list specific grants, so you'll need to review each funders' website for details of their grant programs.

Are you familiar with Candid?  They have some good trainings (on-demand and free) for grant seekers. They do have a database of grants, but it's not free. The pricing is here, in case you're interested.

    Thanks,

    Kelly

Hi Peter.  Could also visit GrantWatch.com.  Have to do quite a bit of reading, at least I did, because applying filters did not help.  A nominal fee but can buy access for short times.

I only had access for 1 month--which was enough--to identify about 5 or 6 new prospects.

    Best,

    Matthew

While Candid's grant database access isn't free, I highly recommend signing up for their RFP emails, which you can do here: https://candid.org/stay-up-to-date/newsletters

You tell them what types of program areas you'd like to be notified about, and they'll send you a daily digest of new grant opportunities in those areas. It's not comprehensive, as many of the smaller family/community foundations don't submit their opportunities to Candid, but it's an easy way to get good info in your inbox!

Our main Library branch here in Columbus Ohio has the premium CANDID database that you can search and use for free on their computers when you are at that branch.  Call the main branch of your library and ask if they have that service for non-profits. I just had to sign up for a Library card to use the computer.
