Anyone who is connected to city water and sewer: can you share what your system design requirements are (or post some pics of your system) for being connected to the city system? We are building a new facility, and our holdup is the sanitation department. They are telling the city council that it is illegal to connect the animal shelter to the city system due to the animal waste. Our Architect/Engineer says there are methods available to ensure we don't "clog" the system, such as grinders, filters, etc. I'm hoping to find some examples so we can show the city council how it works in the real world, not just as the architect describes. Thanks in advance for your insights

When I lived in CA, we were connected directly to Stanislaus County system. You might also look into Pet Camp in San Francisco. I remember that they said they had an upgraded system that turned waste into gray water or biosolids. It was a while ago and I'm foggy on details but they were aiming to be climate friendly.
