  • 1.  Collaboration with Storage Facilities

    Posted 07-27-2025 11:05 AM

We have an abundance of storage facilities in our area. I have been brainstorming a way to partner with them that doesn't include adoption events but am coming up empty.

Adoption events are important but we want other ways to incorporate businesses in our community as well.

    Any ideas are welcome!

How about a trap depot for your TNR program?  I have used storage for donated items to an auction event- they donate 1-2 months of storage and get mention in the auction program . Pop up pet pantry.  These are a few thoughts

I'm commenting on this thread to follow it. I'd appreciate some ideas as well.

We are a small non-profit and we've rented a storage unit for years because we couldn't take in all of the stuff we get donated without it. We don't get a discount and they don't do any sort of donated space. If you're able to score that I'd be curious to know what works for you! We don't have a climate controled unit and we're not allowed to store food, so if we did a pet pantry we would need to have a plan for anything that is left over.

We have had some success with partnering with local businesses through a "community service day" where their employees come out to work on special projects around the shelter. So far, we have had our surgery suite and meet and greet rooms repainted by one group and our parking lot lines repainted by another group. We take pictures and post on social media which is good advertising for them and our way of saying "Thank You".  Some of the businesses use it as a team building/mental health day. Also, you could have them put a donation box in their office. They collect donations and we take lots of pics when they drop them off at the shelter.

What about as a community food pantry, at Expo there was a shelter I volunteered with there who had a storage unit style space for their community pantry.
