Is it a conflict of interest for me to work at a veterinary clinic as a receptionist (been there 9 years) and serve on the as the secretary (past 2 years) for a 501C3 organization who offers financial assistance to spay and neuter pets? There are only 2 clinics in town, and my clinic is the only one who takes new clients and who will take our vouchers for half off spays and neuters. There is a long story why this is just coming up now after serving on the board for 2 years.

I would say if there is a conflict of interest, is there a way to recuse yourself from that specific process? Conflicts of interest can be situational and others can be broad. I would suggest you talk to your Board, review the existing policy  or create one. Maybe even bring it up to a vote of the Board, "is this scenario a conflict..." and have a Board Resolution on it.

I dont feel it's a conflict of interest on my part or the vet clinics part. Nor do the board members. There are a couple people in our community who are angry about a couple changes we made in the nonprofit group who have brought it up. Being keyboard warriers on Facebook. I have never abused my position as secretary or receptionist at the clinic in any way shape or form.
