  • 1.  Dog Appeasement Pheromones for stress reduction

I attended a lecture by Dr Leslie Sinn this week and she said that she had found the dog appeasement pheromones (DAP) to help reduce stress in dogs. I was hoping to see how many shelters had tried using them - the diffuser, spray or collars, and if they helped.  If so, we might try it at our small shelter.

    Hi Kathryn,

We do use DAP's all the time here. We typically use Adaptil sprays on bedding, Diffusers in kennel sections for dogs that are new or a bit stressed and we use Adaptil Collars for dogs that are extremely stressed. We also use the cat version, Feliway, both in a spray on bedding and diffusers if we have them for the cat/Kitten rooms.

Ky - thank you for your response - we put a collar on a noise phobic dog and I think she is doing better with it. I will share how you use the products with our staff.
