Just wondering what everyone's best practices are for promoting their dogs in foster for adoption? Also getting foster compliance for regular updates and pictures?

Our fosters are provided  first choice in adoption, the have 72 hrs. after the dog is in their home to show interest.  If not adopting, we ask for a pupdate info sheet with some pictures of the dog for posting on our website and social media for adoption, they are also listed on petfinder.  All our fosters are set up with a mentor who work with them on providing this information.

As a shelter and foster volunteer, I'd like more suggestions about what I can do to promote my fosters in my social media and community channels, outside of the shelter. Thanks for starting this thread.

lots of pictures of dogs in the shelter, show with family, other dogs, out and about on walks and also post on petfinder or a site like that.

Anticipating new foster fears as part of the call for help is essential. Many prospectives worry about quite specific issues like what if this doesn't work out, what if no one wants to adopt after three months, who pays vet and supply bills, what about when we go on vacation. By having answers to these in a public FAQ, newcomers won't feel awkward about their worries and may feel more confident about stepping up. Also, having a volunteer who acts as a foster mentor or intermediate is a good idea-someone who responds fast and is able to field simple questions. Too many prospectives are put off by what they fee are their own dumb questions. Of course, there are NO dumb question!!

Ohhh... I like this!!  Good suggestions to have this out front for your fosters to know!!  We really try to do a "foster orientation" but it's always a "foster by fire" and learn as you go!  We do have great support on our foster threads that we set up in facebook messenger and try to answer all of those questions as they come up.  We also. have a foster page on our website that tries to answer many of these questions!
