  • 1.  Emotional Support Cats

We have two cats who came in separately as kittens, but quickly bonded as a pair. They provided emotional support for each other, and our Director quickly realized that they were helpful for the semi feral kittens who come in, as well. These two are now shelter cats, who spend their days comforting and guiding the semi feral kittens who come in to the shelter. After a week or two in the cat playroom with Skitz and Ajax, the semi feral kittens are able to be handled as if they were hand raised in a foster home. Our two emotional support cats have helped over 100 kittens be adopted into homes when they would otherwise have had to be barn cats. Does anyone else use ESAs for the strays that come into your shelter?
