    Greetings,

I am wondering how other facilities, with fenced in dog yards, that are in high snowfall areas,  maintain those yards in the winter months with regard to the snow build-up against the fences with the possibility of dogs being able to jump over the fence due to the height of the snow.  Our snow height is currently approximately 3 ft. high in our play yards, not including snow drifts that are as high as 6ft. and shoveled snow piles as high as 4ft.   Our exterior fences are 6ft. high and our interior fences are 4ft. high.  Our usual yearly snowfall is approximately 70 inches.  This year we are already at 99 inches and expecting 5-8 more inches in a few days as another storm rolls our way.

You may want to  change the name of this post. I thought it was going to be about organizations requiring potential adopters to have fenced in yards. If you can change the title so it's clear what it's about, you may get some responses from other shelters!

    Hi Kathryn,

When i used to work somewhere where there was snow, our facilities person used a snowblower to keep walkways and yards accessible.
