I'm sure there are plenty of animal lovers here who are just as frustrated with backyard breeding as I am. For any of you that have gone on Craigslist to see the obscene amount of posts from these breeders, you likely are just so discouraged by the fact that this is happening and not much seems to be being done about it. Where I am in California, it's a huge issue. It's sickening, sad, and depressing given how many dogs are getting euthanized in shelters right now.
I started a petition asking Craigslist to start enforcing their own policies against these posts or just outright delete any posts pertaining to the sale of anything animal related with the hope that making it harder for backyard breeders to sell their puppies may cause some of them to stop breeding. If we can slow the breeding, fewer dogs will die.
I know it's a big undertaking to try to get Craigslist to change their ways, but I'm hoping that if the rescue/shelter community and our supporters can band together to get a ton of signatures on this, maybe Craigslist will take note and do something to positively contribute to the crisis we are currently in (especially if we can get some media attention, but again, we need a lot of signatures to make any sort of waves for this).
