As a rescue in rural Georgia, we try to collect food donations up in New Jersey and transport down to the shelter. This hasn't been enough. We sometimes get donations from a couple stores more local to the rescue as well as the food pantry. We do not have the funds to allocate at this time to buy food. I have been trying to research grants, funding, and in kind donations as well but I was wondering if anyone has ideas or what has worked for them to get food for your rescue?
The end of the Community Conversation Call today, 8/19 with Matt Pepper, President and CEO of Michigan Humane Society, ended with him suggesting Amazon warehouses. Has anyone had luck with Amazon warehouses. The rescue itself is in Georgia. Has anyone in the Southern states had any luck with any particular grocery stores or large box stores?
The grocery stores around us in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, say they don't donate animal food , even if torn or damaged in some way, they instead send it back to dealer. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.
Thank you,
