I am the founder of Operation Blankets of Love an animal welfare emergency relief non profit.  (OBOL) started in 2008. Our website is obol.info to see our programs.

Operation Blankets of Love has an extensive humane education program that  encourages many character values, including compassion, respect and empathy. Humane education also provides opportunities to develop a sense of responsibility and self-esteem through its solutions-oriented approach. Students learn why animals end up in shelters as well as solutions to the problem and how they can help, plus more. Go to our link on our website HELP (Humane Education Learning Program)

I wrote a 54-page bi-lingual (English/Spanish) coloring activity book entitled How to Take Care of Your Pet Pals and Be Kind to Animals which was approved by the Los Angeles City Animal Services. Please contact me at my email obol@obol.info or call me at 818-402-6586 to see how you can get our booklets. Remember it is FREE.

Each student gets one to keep to share with their family that emphasize the importance of responsible pet ownership and the importance of reporting animal cruelty to authorities. All the OBOL materials are also given out at animal shelters and given to families with children looking to adopt a pet.

I do want to add that  upon completion of the presentation , students are then engaged in organizing and carrying out their own community "collection drive" to get donated pet comfort and care items and we pick it up to distribute it to needy shelters and rescue groups. And HELP is there, ready to provide guidance for students to become animal welfare advocates or to help arrange a private tour in one of the many shelters we partner with so kids can see first - hand the needs of homeless animals, and discover how they can help. This hands-on experience creates greater emotional investment, cements learning in a real-life context and encourages youth to become personally involved in animal advocacy.
