I'm the original poster. :) I use GrantStation and GrantWatch every single day and they are both totally worth it! Without them it would be so much harder to find nonlocal grants and find info about them and their foundations. Hope this helps!

I am totally in agreement - Grant Station has multiple uses - is pretty user-friendly, and especially for an organization just starting to do grant writing, very, very inexpensive. 

--- Als, join TechSoup - which is entirely free (with two paid additional options).

Both effective, useful, and inexpensive tools in any good toolbox.....

I'm the original poster. :) My organization is subscribed to both GrantStation and GrantWatch, I use both every single day! GrantWatch is $249 for the year (I think) so the prices are pretty similar right now. Truly, I HIGHLY recommend either grant hub, it's the best way I've found to locate nonlocal grant opportunities. Additionally, compared to other grant locaters, the price is low. Candid's premium grant search is incredibly expensive, so is GrantGopher and The Grant Portal. 

Personally, either GrantStation or GrantWatch are worth the price. With GrantWatch you can purchase a month subscription and really get to work on documenting what you find so you can apply throughout the year. Hope this helps!

This is really helpful information.  I've been meaning to do a trial with "Instrumntl" (yes, that's how its spelled) -- but its really pricey (e.g. $179 a month).  Has anyone tried this service?  Too rich for our blood, but thought I'd sign up for the trial to see what its all about.  Will also check out GrantStation and GrantWatch (if the organization isn't already signed up for this).

We have tried Instrumentl but weren't a fan-it's way to expensive for what it offers. It isn't as intuative as GrantStation or GrantWatch (which is my preferred hub). Personally, I'd skip that and apply for a cheaper option like GrantStation.

We also purchase Grant Station through Techsoup. It is definitely worth it. We've won two grants that we didn't know about before we signed up. We also signed up for the free version of The Shareway and Grant Gopher. You don't get as many good leads with their free versions but we have received several raffle items through Shareway emails, including a $600 value winetasting party from Total Wine and  Bark box gift certificates.  If you haven't signed up for TechSoup yet you should!

I see GrantStation on sale at Techsoup for $199.  Which seems to be a great deal as it says normal price is $699/year on the website.
GrantWatch is $249/year

Finances are tight and IF I can get the board to purchase a membership, which one is best for a rescue that has zero idea/experience applying for grants? We really need to get started because we can't grow if we can't get funding to help out. We float by year to year. But it is a daunting task. I'm sure I have "deer in headlight" look when I start looking at the grant stuff. LOL
