    Hi everyone,

Please join us this Thursday, September 28 at 9 am PT/noon ET where we'll be talking about in-shelter dog-dog introductions with  Lauren Revier of Dogs Playing for Life, and Morgan Rivera of GoodPup.   This is the second in a two part series about dog-dog intros.

Please share this message with staff and volunteers at your organization who might be interested in the job-alike. Sign up for the webcast here.

Here's more info about the session and speakers:

    · September: In this session, we'll continue our discussion of in-shelter dog-to-dog introductions by discussing what to do when things go wrong. The speakers will go over the steps to break up a fight and will again talk through video examples.

    Bios:

    · Lauren Revier is Director of Research and Programs at Dogs Playing for Life where she is responsible for measuring DPFL's impact and ensuring its programs are continually improving. Lauren's introduction to animal welfare came in 2013 when she started volunteering at Longmont Humane Society. She was so drawn to the dogs, the people, and the work that she applied for a job and began facilitating animal intakes and adoptions while still volunteering her time walking and learning to handle dogs with more challenging behaviors. From 2014 to 2016, Lauren held the position of Public Training Program Coordinator, overseeing the public dog training and adoption follow-up programs. She left this position in 2016 but continues to teach public training classes every week. Upon leaving her full-time job at LHS, Lauren worked for four years at a criminal justice consulting firm where she conducted research, administered surveys, and wrote reports and implementation guides. She was thrilled to return to animal welfare in 2019 when she joined DPFL as its Shelter Support Coordinator. Lauren holds a master's degree in Criminology, Law, and Society.

    · Morgan Rivera currently works as the Senior Manager of Shelter Partnerships for GoodPup where she consults with partner organizations around the country, helping to develop or advance their post-adoption support, foster programs, and more. Prior to this, she worked for the Humane Society of the United States on their Animal Rescue Team. Morgan has been involved in animal welfare since 2004 and in 2022 graduated from the University of Florida with a masters degree in Shelter Medicine.

I'm watching part 1 and I cannot sit still.

THIS - dog-dog interaction - is my specialty and I want to show where and how to make little tweaks that will benefit All !

What you say is what I'm all about, too.

I do it a bit differently.

I had to STOP watching during Tony's intro because there's a Much better way for dogs and humans to get there.

Are the handlers equipped with spray bottles?!

Let's talk about that. If you think there's a need for interruption at that level, it's time to think deeper.  If You are carrying a defensive mind, so is the dog.  Not safe. Not in control.

I do love and appreciate what Playing for Life has done so far.  If we combine forces, I think we can really make a lasting impact for dogs.

    Hope to see yaz Thursday
