    Hello All,

We just intook about thirty-five dogs from a hoarding situation. I'm hoping folks can point me toward some resources that are go-tos for understanding  and supporting their behavioral needs as well as special considerations and resources for adopters.

We have done a few hoards, unfortunately where we live it is a common thing. First and foremost these dogs have not had the individual attention they need and many may be unsocialized. Please do not think that bad behavior is going to last, they need to learn.  They usually do not trust and will be flight risks.  Some  likely have health issues. On one of our hoards of 36 dogs several had seizure disorders and a few passed away from them. One puppy had liver shunt and sadly only lived 4 years even after surgery. Some had food aggression as food is scarce in a hoard.
Just go slow and try to be hands on as much as they will let you

    Hi Catherine

We have had a few hoarding case of different species. (Dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs) We rely on fosters to help use socialize the animals. Especially the dogs. We had to separate them to get them better social and get fosters that understood the behavioral the dogs have. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you like.
