I would try sharing your page into any local areas facebook page, Our group is very active in the local "lost dogs" pages and that gives us more support from the community when they see us trying to support other areas of rescue! If we have big events we are sure to share them on social media, even better if you co-host an event and they share your site on their page as well, as you'll be meeting a whole new page of individuals! Hope this helps!

    Hi Eve,
We have found that creating engaging stories with good pictures of the animals we rescue seems to gather more social media followers because people like to keep track of individual animals from rescue through the adoption/placement process.  They like to know that an individual animal has been rescued, fixed, and placed successfully.  We think it creates more of a community on social media because people will see a post and remember that animals' name and story, and want to know how things turned out for him/her.  But it also has to start with a decent photo.  Good luck!

Try sharing your group into local dog/cat groups, our organization works closely with our local "lost dog" pages, and by supporting them they support us too! Also if you "co-host" an event make sure that you are sharing on social media, and ask the other host to share your org on their page too!

Hi Eve! I went through this years ago when I became our org's first Digital Media Manager. As an animal org, it's not difficult to find engaging content (dogs & cats!) that people will respond to, but you have to bring them to your page first so that they will follow and share your content. What worked for me was getting our page involved in community discussions on Facebook - replying to posts and questions on other pages and following other pages (they usually will follow you back). Be sure to post links to your FB page on all of your digital communications - email newsletters, in your email signature, and on your website's home page. People love to talk about their own pets, so try posts that ask people to share photos of their pets, or share their pets' funniest/cutest/heroic moments. Video content is HUGE right now, way more even than photos so post cute videos of what you offer/services or "go live" from time to time to bring people in. Here's a great article with ideas, too: https://www.facebook.com/business/learn/lessons/grow-page-following-public-figures
    Hope that helps! Good luck!

What about asking local vets, groomers, boarding and small pet stores to cross-post with you.  I assume you are cats only but they still have groomers & boarding facilities that take cats.  Also, any local community pages like neighborhood, church or even school groups.

Facebook use is declining, especially among younger people who often don't use it at all. You'd probably be better off building your reach on platforms like Instagram and Tiktok.

Is that the target audience though? If they're trying to build an audience of donors to the program, I would think Facebook is exactly where they need to be. In Groups, anyway.

Though I agree that Facebook use is declining, tons of people still use FB Groups (which is one of the few things that actually keep people on the platform). I would make cute posts in different local FB groups. Look for popular ones like "Happenings" groups and "Buy Nothing" groups where you can make your message relevant and get exposed to new people.
