I have a question about HUD housing rules. A young lady is living in a housing unit in our county. She has a small dog (less than 12 lbs). She received a notice earlier this week of a site inspection with someone other than the management personnel; she was told a federal inspector. The housing unit has asked for the last two years of her dog's vaccination records. She is concerned because she did not get her annual vaccines in 2023 but did bring the dog up-to-date on Tuesday. The dog is not current on vaccines.
The unit manager was sent a text message yesterday stating, "Because we'll be having a USDA inspection on apartments and paperwork in the office. If I don't have something showing in the file, it's a write-up for me and a lease violation on the tenant"
So, the young lady is afraid that if she is found violating her lease, she will be evicted. Based on the law, is the tenant at risk for eviction?
Is there somewhere I can find the law?
