New Resource: Free Narrated Children's Storybook videos (Life of Kai: Kind Stories.

Our nonprofit, Life of Kai, just launched a new project called Kind Stories - a YouTube channel of free narrated children's storybooks focused on kindness and empathy toward animals. The project was made possible with support from The Pollination Project.

Our first video premieres today, and we'll be adding more each week.

We especially want to make this library available to communities that are interested in humane education but may not have the resources to start their own program right now. These narrated videos can be shared directly with families, classrooms, shelters, or after-school programs as a simple way to bring humane education into children's lives.

We'd love your feedback, and we welcome collaboration with anyone exploring humane education or literacy-based outreach.

    Warmly,
Julie & the Life of Kai Team

    Hi Gayle,

Thank you for your kind words. It is always daunting starting something new wondering if it is a good thing or a flop.  We have 13 narrated videos lined up so we hope it will start looking like a program.  We appreciate your encouragement. Please share if you can.

If you're curious about humane education but not sure where to begin, this is an easy, low-barrier way to see how it might look in practice.  I am following up the original post to invite anyone who is interested in creating a humane education program for their organization to use these videos as a pilot, as inspiration, or simply as a bridge while you explore building your own humane education program.  All free of charge.  We created the series (currently 6 videos were uploaded to Youtube) to be more than just story readings. Throughout each video, we ask thought-provoking questions to encourage reflection, empathy, and perspective-taking. And if kids watch until the end, they'll often find a reflection activity or kindness challenge to help make up for the live interaction they'd get in the traditional in-person session in a classroom. I am going to upload an example video so you can see the contents and activities.  Best, Julie
