    Hello,

I am volunteering with a small rescue in Los Angeles.  They do not have insurance saying it is hard and difficult to find a carrier for large more undesirable breeds.  Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas?  Thank you

Kris Kortum <kkortum@mgi-risk.com> has always been able to find us insurance. Seems like every 2 years or so we get dropped and have never filed a claim. Send her an e-mail, she always replies quickly.

We go through our broker and he placed the insurance for our shelter through Animal Keepers (they're familiar with animal related businesses and even though we have had claims, they've never talked about dropping us).

I had this same issue when starting (we focus on bully breeds). AWOIP is super affordable.

We are a small rescue (only 15-20 dogs at a time, and we have a lot of pittie pups) and it took awhile to find affordable insurance. Some insurance agencies just do not do that kind of insurance, and the ones that are specific to rescues are expensive. We finally found a local insurance agency that did the shopping around for us, and they found a company to insure us. It made it easier to actually walk in and talk to a person than trying to find it online; we reached out to local agencies online and the one that said they could do it ended up being who we went with, and they were very helpful. But we went through quite a few asks before finding one.
