Hi,
We are a small, all volunteer organization and we use it for items such as distemper vaccine, syringes, Rescue cleaner, etc. We don't use it for prescription items even though we have a veterinarian that we use on a regular basis. I believe if you only order non-prescription items you don't need a vet to sign. Brooke was the person that helped us sign up and she was very nice. I'm not sure of the prices compared to a lot of other places, but from what we have ordered they are reasonable and it's great to know so many products can be purchased in one place.
I definitely recommend Shelters United as they are very helpful, their customer service is very nice, and always send emails about discounts or promotional items. You will need a rescue bank account since they charge the account once a month for items purchased but you don't need to purchase every month - only when you need things. I am actually getting ready to order some more distemper vaccines and I think the cost of purchasing and administering ourselves is much cheaper than having a vet do it. As long as someone is familiar with administering it and where it should be given (right front leg) it is worth the cost at about $7 per vaccine.
I say go for it! :)

Subject: Is anyone using Shelters United for group discounts on medication and supplies?
Is anyone familiar with Shelters United and used them to source medication and supplies at a group discounted rate? Is it worth signing up? Is the group discount more advantageous than the regular nonprofit discount one might get by making a request?
