What does your facility use for cleaning kennels? We know the dog's sense of smell is exponentially stronger than ours, and many cleaners WE can smell strongly. Is there a good one out there that cleans well but is gentler on their noses?

I use Wysiwash outside and Quat inside

    Hi Karee,

We were introduced to Odoban years ago by another rescue and we use it clean and disinfect our animals' habitats and cages. We add it to the laundry too. It has a mild scent of eucalyptus.

    Hi Karee,

At LTBHS we used to use Odoban a few years back, which works good. However, we have found that "Rescue" works even better in disinfecting as well as being pretty much completely odorless. It can't be mixed with bleach, the chemical mixture created by adding bleach creates the equivalent of mustard gas. other than that its an amazing product.

Our entire shelter uses Rescue by Virox. The product has no significant odor. It kills all known pathogens. Plus since it is a hydrogen peroxide based cleaner / disinfectant, the residuals from use are only water and oxygen! Beware though, this is an expensive product.

My old shelter always used Rescue. The only time it's really noticeable in terms of smell is if you're spritzing cat kennels with a spray bottle that aerosolizes the liquid just a bit too much. So far we've never had parvo or panleuk spread through the facility so we have been very happy with it!
