One of the limiting factors on pet fostering/adoptions is the all-too-common refrain: "I love animals!!! I wish I could adopt but my landlord doesn't allow pets."

Is anyone aware of legislation (or attempted legislation) in any jurisdiction to ensure that a minimum % of residential units are required to allow pets? (Or at least a certain % of publicly-subsidized units)?

What about community partnerships that would push for this?

Many landlords ban pets. And it seems like there would be a real sea change in adoption rates if we could get landlords to shift their position on this.

I haven't heard of any proposals about mandating a specific percentage of pet-friendly housing units. But this is a nation-wide issue and there are people all over the place working on it in various ways. I'd start by looking around in your city/county/state and see what's being done. And you can check out this page: https://humanepro.org/topics/pet-friendly-housing
