Hello. I am new to the group. I didn't see anything in the search option about trick or treating for dogs as a fundraiser so I will post our idea. As a fundraiser and also to get some publicity for our organization we put together a trick or treat event for dogs. I went to our local PetSmart and ask if they'd be willing to be our host for this event and then I had to go through the property managers to get approval. We also have to have a city temporary use permit established. I send out requests for donations to various organizations that have dog treats or toys that they market. I also get donations from local veterinarians and supporters for our opportunity drawing. Additionally, I incorporate a photographer so participants can have their photo taken with their dog dressed in costume. We also invite other rescue organizations and vendors to set up tables at our event. Then I visit the tenants of the shopping center and ask if they'd be willing to hand out treats and toys that our organization will provide during certain hours (usually a 2-hour time block) on a particular day.   I post the event on social media, in local stores and in our local newspaper. Then on a weekend in October our event takes place. We set up tables with our opportunity drawing gifts and a place for participants to register. We charge a fee for the registrants and give them a bag to trick-or-treat with. And we also include a map of which locations to visit for their treats. It's a lot of fun and we'll even include a best costume award sometimes. This is been a very fun event and it incorporates the community and it raises funds for our rescue.

What a fun idea for a fundraiser. I bet the turnout is good too.

Great idea.  We do a Howl-o-Ween  Parade here.  Entrants pay a small fee to enter their pet.   Their entry fee comes with a t-shirt.  They dress up the pet and walk a marked off route (with police in front to direct traffic) approximately 1 mile.  The walk ends in a large green-space next to the small shopping center.  Entrants then come on the make-shift stage one at a time to introduce their pet and show off the costume.  We have 4 judges.  At the end, we award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  Set up around the stage and viewer area are tables set up by vendors, and one for our volunteer program, one for our foster program, one for our pet supply store, and outside partners.    We also hand out donated treats, leashes, bandanas, etc.  This is such a fun event.
