Thanks for sharing this story, Amy. At PAWS Chicago we have also started treated CPV-infected puppies with this novel monoclonal antibody treatment. https://www.pawschicago.org/news-resources/news-features/paws-chicago-news/paws-chicago-news-item/showarticle/parvo-pup-mono-just-made-history-at-paws
We have been pleased with the outcomes to date. Treated puppies recover faster, when this treatment is added to the current standard therapies (IV fluids, antiemetics, antibiotics if necessary for possible secondary sepsis, etc.). This year we are in the process of a prospective observational study and plan to share results with the shelter medicine community later this year, either through a white paper or a peer-reviewed journal publication.
We have been applying for grants and soliciting donations from individual donors to offset the cost of the treatment.
I can keep this community updated.
Sincerely,
Matthew
