Hi Rachel- so exciting that you are trying to get this off the ground! So we run a Pet Resource Center here in Memphis where we will basically offer anything we can to prevent shelter intake up to $300, which is the average cost of care for an animal in our shelter. So we consider it a cost-saving, and more importantly, a lifesaving decision to spend money to keep families together.

I'd be happy to talk you through the specifics of how we operate. Just shoot me an email at alexis.pugh@memphistn.gov and we can schedule a time to go through it in detail.

    Hi Rachel,

My name is Quinn and I oversee the Community Pet Pantry at San Diego Humane Society. We have 4 high volume daily community distribution sites and distribute bulk food and pet supplies to over 100 human and animal welfare organizations. I saw your post on Maddie's and I think I can provide you with some guidance on launching a cost effective pet pantry. Let me know if you want to chat sometime next week.
